What is testosterone?
Testosterone is the primary male sex hormone that regulates growth and development of masculine characteristics. It's produced in the testes, controlled by a feedback loop, and can be tested through a blood draw or finger-prick test kit. Hormones are chemical messengers that affect many bodily processes.
What affects testosterone levels?
Factors such as stress, diet, age, exercise, and alcohol can affect testosterone levels. Men's testosterone levels naturally decrease as they age, with a 40% drop in men in their 70s compared to men in their 20s. Eating well, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep can help boost testosterone levels.
