Peptic ulcers are a common condition that can affect many people, often caused by the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). This test allows you to determine if you have antibodies against H. pylori by analysing a stool sample. H. pylori is known for causing peptic ulcers and has been linked to chronic gastritis and a higher risk of stomach cancer. Identifying this infection early can help manage symptoms and reduce the risk of complications.

For individuals experiencing stomach discomfort, it's also worth considering a SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) Test, as symptoms like abdominal pain may be caused by conditions other than H. pylori.

What Does the H. Pylori Test Measure?

  • Helicobacter pylori: A bacterium commonly found in the stomach lining, responsible for peptic ulcers and sometimes linked to gastritis and stomach cancer. It has the unique ability to survive in the acidic environment of the stomach.

Peptic Ulcers and H. pylori

Many people with H. pylori infections do not show any symptoms, and the bacterium is often contracted in childhood, remaining dormant throughout life. If left untreated, it can lead to gastritis, duodenal ulcers, and, in rare cases, stomach cancer. Detecting H. pylori can help prevent serious gastrointestinal complications.

What's Included in the H. pylori Test Kit?

  • Test cassette
  • Sample collection tube with extraction buffer
  • Stool collection paper
